Newsweek CoverWhen right wing news critics get ammunition of this quality, there's something very, very wrong.

Are Newsweek editors actually this unaware of their biases? Yes they are!

MODO shows her complete ignorance once more sticky icon

Maureen Dowd is one sorry ass ...........  woman.  It's been obvious since way back in the campaign that she can't handle the idea of successful women, women who do things other than make fun of other women.  She is that classic my friends will yell at me for calling.  She is a spiteful woman.  One who cannot accept intelligence or success in other women, because they might steal her man.

Maureen Dowd is insane and should not be writing for a paper like the New York Times.  But this weekend she did because her favorite target, Sarah Palin, did something without explaining why to MODO.

Now, Sarah’s Folly
By MAUREEN DOWD
Published: July 4, 2009

Sarah Palin showed on Friday that in one respect at least, she is qualified to be president.

Caribou Barbie is one nutty puppy.

Usually we don’t find that exquisite battiness in our leaders until they’ve been battered by sordid scandals like Watergate (Nixon), gnawing problems like Vietnam (L.B.J.), or scary threats like biological terrorism (Cheney).

Editorial Today by Governor Palin on ANWR sticky icon

As an environmentalist myself, I favor using the most environmentally friendly alternative sources of energy, but I also think it's hypocritical of us to say no drilling here when we use oil drilled in other places around the world.  As we shift to more ecological sources, I think Governor Palin makes some good, sensible points.  And when you combine this with her push for green renewables, it makes even more good sense.  She may be winning me over on the ANWAR thing.  I like her balanced approach.  Anyway, here's the editorial she wrote today (and more follows):

That Sarah Palin Is Just Too Green sticky icon

According to the Alaska Daily News, the Governor has just announced:
"the most ambitious renewable energy goals in the nation" and has "called for 50 percent of Alaska's power to be generated by renewable resources by 2025."
Have you seen much coverage of this by our corporate media pundits --all those guys who usually love to talk about progressive issues like global warming? You'd think they'd be doing cartwheels over this!

"He had me until he picked the dummy" sticky icon

That's what my wife's coworker said to me last night.  "He had me until he picked the dummy".

During the primaries we had chatted once or twice and she seemed like the only sane person my wife worked with in the OR.  She'd call about the next day's schedule and when I answered we'd have a short talk about Hillary.

Tonight she's kept me from sleeping.  It's 3:30 am here in the east and I can't get that sentence out of my head.

I answered the phone and she said, "hi".  I asked, "who is this?"  "This is the diehard Hillary supporter who works with your wife", "You didn't vote for John McCain, did you?".  "Of course I did.  I couldn't vote for the crook".

That's when she said, "He had me until he picked the dummy"I said, "She's the Governor of a state" and she countered with, "She's a dummy".  At a loss for words I said, "hold on, here's the o'bot".

Newsweek-dkos-Palin sticky icon

short, unsweet, and to the point:

As we all know, Newsweek Magazine has been the channel for all the ANONYMOUS sources continuing to spread post-election smears of Governor Palin.

Let's not forget:

  dkos founder and publisher, Markos Moulitsas, has a job at Newsweek;

it was dkos, following John McCain's announcent of Sarah Palin as his running mate,  which  quickly started that vicious rumor/lie about Palin's baby not being her own child.

Put two and two together, folks.  What do you think?

Unity First sticky icon

Here's another pundit praising the One for his Transformational Unity theme.  I'm copying out a few excerpts for your amusement.

Perfecting the Union by Roger Cohen,  11/06/2008  NYT

.....beyond the economy, beyond health care, there was something even more fundamental at stake in this U.S. election won by Barack Obama: the self-respect of the American people.  .....

Obama made a simple bet and stuck to it. If you trusted in the fundamental decency, civility and good sense of the American people, even at the end of a season of fear and loss, you could forge a new politics and win the day  .......
“In this country, we rise or fall as one nation, as one people,” he declared Tuesday night in his victory speech to a joyous crowd in Chicago.  ......

Take Her Out: The Witch Hunt Continues sticky icon

The mainstream media is still going after Sarah Palin like a pack of hyenas.  They know she could spell trouble for the powerful good ole boys, and clearly want to do her in beforehand, nip her promising political future in the bud. I'm putting 2 and 2 together, and it's sounding pretty conspiratational.  I think it's the Bush guys.  A few weeks ago Bush pundits and supporters were coming out endorsing Obama, and at the same time saying nasty things about Palin.  Well, it's a pay-back-time thing.  Remember the pipeline legislation back up in Alaska?  Palin said no to big oil.  The Bush administration bullies, specifically Cheny's office, were pressuring Governor Palin to toe the line and give the pipeline to their oil buddies.

news reports' quotes:

"Cheney's staff pressed the Palin administration to draw in the energy companies, said current and former state officials involved in those discussions."

Hear Us Roar!
Hear Us Roar!

Our beloved blogmother has asked all of us Conflucians to "come out" and explain what we are doing on November 4th, and to choose a word that would summarize our NOBAMA position.

My word is "misogyny," and I'm voting for the 30% Solution in order to begin improving the lives of women throughout this great country.

So it becomes a wardrobe malfunction sticky icon

Aren't the boyz over at Politico just so gosh darned cute.

Does Palin's wardrobe malfunction matter or is it a trivial distraction as the GOP says?

They ask the question as they trivialize the campaign by asking the question and keeping the dumb ass discussion going for another wasted day.  And I used to think they had brains over there.  Excuse me but they are AssHats.

Obama And the Obama-Media Risking A Backlash Of Atleast One sticky icon

Today I finally made a decision to write-in Hillary on my ballot this year.  But then I read the "news" about McCain's "Palin problem"(no link, Chuck Todd, not worth it).  I read that Palin is a "drag on the ticket"(where have we heard that before?) and polls a higher negative than positive rating among the electorate, odd for a woman who netted SNL their highest ratings in 14 years, bizarre for a lady who consistantly outdraws Obama at her rallies.  Oh, she also spent too much campaign money on her wardrobe(which I LOVE, I always thought Hillary should wear tall boots to debate).  I guess she was supposed to campaign in her Parka and snow shoes or whatever. Oh, and she also lacks the experience.  Now that pipeline she's got going and raising taxes on the oil companies may be the right experience for like a Hooters waitress, but not a Vice President.

Lynette Long's New Speech sticky icon

Here is the speech I will deliver in several places in New Mexico this weekend.

NEW MEXICO SPEECH

My name is Lynette Long. I am a feminist, a mother, a Democrat and an ardent Hillary Clinton supporter and I am voting for John McCain and Sarah Palin on November 4.

Remember New Hampshire sticky icon

Obama was in my town of 25,000 today begging for our lousy 4 electoral votes.

Tonight he's having another Springsteen fund raiser in NYC because he needs dough.

This thing is close and as BHO said today, "Remember New Hampshire".  This ain't the Bradley effect scaring the crap out of team Obama, it's the Palin effect, the NH effect, Hillary's "Invisibles" effect.  I honestly believe that David Axelrod is seeing his worse nightmare.  A repeat of the surprise finish my state gave to Hillary.

Week ahead. Debate, SarahCuda and work sticky icon

Yeah work.  It's one of those nasty weeks, but it is short since I'm home for Columbus Day.

Speaking of Columbus Day, I was headed to Logan to pick my son up today and took a long slow ride down the North Shore of Mass.  I went to Nahant, an island connected by a mile long causeway, and walked the beach at low tide with many others and their dogs.  It was a classic 10 of New England Fall days. So I left Nahant went down through Revere and got myself caught in traffic twice.  Why?  Columbus Day parades in thsse very Italian communities.

Debate:  We will of course have our usual debate chat here on Wed. night.  Live chat like you've used at blogtalk or other places.  No refreshing required the system is automatic and fast.  Lots of fun, I must admit and we had a great crowd for the last two debates.

Gosh Golly Gee. She's got wrinkles too sticky icon

I came hoNewsweek Coverme tonight to this week's Newsweek and quite frankly I'm getting close to calling it NewsWEAK.

I mean, disclaimer I'm a guy, is it really necessary to have a cover that seems to be peering through a dermatologist's magnifying glass?  Would they, could they put such a close up of purple lips on the cover?

Was that a racist comment by your host?

The Palin Problem

Yes, she won the debate by not imploding. But governing requires knowledge, and mindless populism is just that—mindless.

A reporter accuses Palin of racism--and gives us a glimpse into his own prejudices.

by: James Taranto - The Wall Street Journal

It was good to find a writer calling out the bias against Governor Palin,  I won't quote the entire article and suggest you go read and reference what Mr. Taranto has to say.

I'll skip right to the conclusion of this detailed piece.

Yet we'd venture that there are voters who are troubled by Obama's palling around with terrorists irrespective of his, or anyone else's race. Does the public not have a right to know because some part of the public may be racist?

Ruben Navarrette Jr. in a special to CNN, has the most insightful review of the debate I've read.

From CNN http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/03/navarrette.debate/index.html

SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- Tie goes to the hockey mom.

Who won last night's vice presidential debate? The answer depends on which ticket you support. If you like Obama-Biden, then Joe Biden won.

<snip>

It is Sarah Palin's world, Joe Biden just lives in it. Viewers tuned in to see Palin either fall flat, or flatten her opponent.

Sarah Rocked the House sticky icon

Palin: Darn right it was the predator lenders, who tried to talk Americans into thinking that it was smart to buy a $300,000 house if we could only afford a $100,000 house. There was deception there, and there was greed and there is corruption on Wall Street... I think we need to band together and say never again.

More reasons to vote McCain-Palin sticky icon

Another letter in my continuing effort to convince my mom that Obama is not "the one."

Mom, whether you know it or not, you're using DNC talking points from the Obama campaign. John McCain is very healthy and strong. Remember, I've seen him in person and was very impressed with him as a human being.

As for Sarah Palin, she's far more qualified than Obama since she has several years of executive experience under her belt. She's no redneck, as if anything would be wrong with that if she were. She has been in politics for 16 years and also has business executive experience.

Open Thread but but but sticky icon

But I have a teaser or two for your thoughts today.

Sarah Palin announced she will head Energy Security and help for special needs children.

Best of all she said of Obama, “When it comes to reform, has he ever once said, ‘We did’ instead of ‘I will’?

Our friends over at NoQuarter have the rest of today's stump speech.

Madamab lays a good one on Harry "We don't know what to do " Reid.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE DEMOCRATS GONE?? sticky icon

Joyfully crossposted with permission from PUMA IRISH BRIGADE at Alegre's Corner.

I am not nor have I ever been a Republican, Let me say that unequivocally. I have been a staunch Democrat my entire life and have always voted the ticket. Today I am left wondering, where have all the Democrats gone???

It was always my personal belief that we were better than they  (repubs) were on a number of fronts. We were the party that stood for fairness, equality on gender, work and racial issues. We were the "good guys" I thought. This election has horrified me on so many levels I cannot even express them all coherently.

Saturday Night Living sticky icon

So I hear that do to the hurricane, Barry won't be doing SNL tonight.

Damn.  I really really wanted to see him do the sketch with Tina Fey playing Sarah Paylin.

I'm sure they'll clean up the show in order to show respect for a few hundred thousand people who are now homeless.  At least I think they are.  Haven't watched the news since leaving for dinner.  Went to Caraba's which really sucks when you're on the Atkin's diet.  I had chicken, brocoli and green beans.  WooHoo.

So the question this evening is.  Will Obama have all of Galveston back in their homes by Wednesday?
