I admit it. I'm liking the New Obama
Yes, I said it.
Those who know me understand that I am very interested in the how of politics more than the what, or the outcome. Of course, I am still a die hard liberal, socialist, atheist who dislikes the health care bill not for what it does but for how little it changes. This post is not about health care but I want to reiterate that the republican planned giveaway to big business is not the Universal Health Care we've been fighting for.
I am in disagreement on this with most of Partizane but in this post it is just the first example of what I'm liking about the New Mr. Obama.
I love that he stopped his year-long ass kissing of the GOP and finally with Health Care he took the ball down the court and stuffed it. This little feat has rattled the GOP to their core so of course they are fighting back the only way they know how. By crying.
This gives NewHampster the giggles.
I love that he set them up with the summit where he got them to say no enough times on camera that the democratic ad men will have a field day this fall. I've loved the entire end game when he has gone against everything I thought he'd do. Maybe I was wrong about him, but I don't think so. I think I was wrong about Nancy Pelosi.
Evan Bayh says "it's time" for incumbents to go.
This Yahoo article makes clear why Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN) is about to retire; he is tired of the partisanship, gridlock, and pointless politicking going on at the expense of the American people.
How To Win The Presidential Argument: Democrats Don't Get It
I have maintained for years that Democrats, in general, have been historically good at governing, but terrible at framing. When a Democrat has been good at both, he has been able to achieve the White House and stay there for the full amount of time allotted to him, unless tragedy has cut his life short (as in the case of John F. Kennedy). However, this combination is so rare that only one President since FDR has achieved it: William Jefferson Clinton.

Maybe? Maybe we drank the Kool-Aid
Maybe we've been had.
I mean it. Maybe for the last X years we've been drinking kool-aid. Maybe, just maybe we've been listening to the wrong people.
We all know the world is upside down. We're living a Vonnegut novel that ends before it starts, where left is right and right is left. Up is down and down is up.
A fantasy world where Democrats follow a Rovian Rasputin and Republicans follow a Truthsayer.
Well here's something else to think about.

Hillary 2.0 - Al Franken?
"A number of people have told me to study the Hillary model of being a senator," Franken said after they met last February. "Put your head down and do the work."
Franken appears determined to establish credibility as a serious lawmaker. No acerbic wit. No bombastic attacks on conservatives.
That from the Star Tribune. http://www.startribune.com/politics/state/49939822.html
I've decided to trust in Cal and give the guy a chance. He's not female, therefore most definatley not in the Partizane mold of candidates this site will unofficially support. But i liked his take on the Lying liars and I like that he seems to be embracing the habits of the best Senator I've seen in many many years.
