In other good news - Acorn disbanding sticky icon

Scandal-tainted ACORN is disbanding, a spokesman for the national community activist group says, although its housing division will continue, according to two news reports.

Citing national ACORN spokesman Kevin Whelan, the Associated Press said the political arm of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now will shut down April 1 because of "falling revenues." AP writes: "Some other national operations will continue operating for at least several weeks before shutting for good."

The Wall Street Journal adds, however, that ACORN Housing, which has a separate budget and board, would remain open.

Yes, the ones in NY and CA that left and changed their name will most likely remain, but this is still good news.

Buh bye Acorn!

Senate Votes to Stop Funding Illegal Operations sticky icon

The Story:

On Monday, the U.S. Senate voted 83-7 to strip Acorn (a community organizing group with deep ties to the Democratic Party and President Barack Obama) of more than $1.6 million in federal money. The vote followed the action taken last Friday by the U.S. Census Bureau to end its relationship with the organization after new revelations about ACORN were exposed by Fox News.

ACORN had been hired by the bureau along with other community organizations to conduct the coming census. Secretly recorded videos involving employees in Acorn's Brooklyn, N.Y., Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Md. and San Bernardino, Calif. offices have been televised on Fox News and released over the Internet. The most recent and perhaps most damning was a video recorded by two independent filmmakers who posed as a prostitute and a pimp. They pretended to be planning importation of underage El Salvadorian women for the sex trade and sought help from the Brooklyn-based ACORN. Their video shows they asked for and easily received information on getting a government subsidized house loan and advise on evading federal taxes.

Issue 1: This Radical Presidency (Updated 2x) sticky icon

With all the distractions around, it can sometimes be hard to maintain focus on the most important issue of our time: Obama's radical presidency. We've been hearing bits and pieces about Obama and his radical ties for at least the past 18 months or so and some of us knew about him before that. Sometimes, we see some excellent writing that puts things together in an easy to understand way like this piece today from David Horowitz: The Manchurian Candidate

Just eight months into his presidency, however, a new Barack Obama has begun to emerge. With unseemly haste Obama has nearly bankrupted the federal government, amassing more debt in eight months than all his predecessors combined. He has appeased America’s enemies abroad and attackedAmerica’s intelligence services at home. He has rushed forward with programs that require sweeping changes in the American economy and is now steamrolling a massive new health-care program that will give the government unprecedented control of its citizens.

Nuts and Bolts: Obama, Acorn, and Election Fraud sticky icon

The vigilant Just Say No Deal (JSND) Coalition is keeping a watchful eye on ACORN. In a handy chart, the JSND editors have traced the nuts back to Obama's community organizing days, connected the dots to Obama's staffers and radical associates that form his new Democratic party, and linked to the entrenched interests within the Democratic Party that sheltered Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, causing the economic crisis. The troubling news about ACORN keeps rolling in with little mainstream media Obamedia scrutiny. Reacting to "recent revelations of ACORN registering dead, underage, and fictitious voters," JSND released a statement on Monday, October 6th, saying:

From Little ACORNS, Mighty Lawsuits Grow

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has gone to the SCOTUS to overturn an Appeals Court ruling that she must do her job.

Brunner, overwhelmed by what she claims are 666,000 new voter registrations this year (tens of thousands of them submitted by ACORN volunteers) had announced earlier this month that she would take no action on registrations found to be illegitimate.  She stated that registrations were checked against DMV and SS records but that it was up individual counties to check the system for flagged registrations and investigate if warranted.

On October 9 U.S. District Judge George C. Smith in Columbus ruled that Brunner, a Democrat, must perform verification required by the Help America Vote Act and that she must set up a system to make it possible for counties to access that information.  That order came as the result of a lawsuit filed by the Ohio Republican Party.
