End of an Era - So long Alegre
It's actually a new beginning as my friend Alegre begins her dream job on Monday. Chief Legislative Correspondent Alegre. Sounds wonderful for one who so loves to write. Here's her telling of the news.
She's becoming a Senate staffer and will stop blogging this Sunday, so let's all make an effort to stop by A's Corner and give her the send off she deserves.
Alegre has been part of my online life for a few years but not nearly as long as some I know. I wasn't at dKos for the pie wars or even the very early days of the recent primary. I was holed up over at DU until my first diaspora when folks like sheri tag and I had to pack up and move on.

Welcome Pilgrims - Let me tell you about this joint called Partizane
I see another diaspora on the tubes.
Some of our friends are closing shop and others are just quieting down. Many people are just running out of things to say since it's been such a long strange trip. I'm sometimes wordless for days on end, but Partizane is fine when I shut up because, well because we're sort of a team and there'll be somebody posting in my absence.
We're like many blogs that have a group of writers, yet we're different too. But I'll come back to that in a bit.
A little of my own history and what drove me to create this experiment in adult communications. I think it was Cal who ealier today called it an experiment and I think that hit the nail on the head.
So, I can be a royal pain in the butt. I'm one of those snarky, ADHD commenters that can sometimes torment a serious blogger. I can also be very serious myself and take things like my belief in women a little too seriously at times. I'm a Dennis Kucinich lover, but a realist Clinton Democrat. Wait!. I'm no longer a Democrat since formally becoming an Indi this spring.

Call to Action - Call the White House, Free Mu Sochua

Alegre has asked us to do anything we can in the way of phone calls and letter writing, to bring attention to the plight of a great woman in Cambodia.
News has reached us that the Cambodian government is taking steps to imprison Mu Sochua as early as next week.
Mu Sochua is an elected member of the Cambodian parliament and a tireless advocate for women's rights and the victims of injustice. In 2005, Mu Sochua was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her work against sex trafficking of women in Cambodia and neighboring Thailand. Vital Voices honored Mu Sochua with the 2005 Human Rights Global Leadership Award for her efforts to stem the tide of human trafficking. To highlight her work, Mu Sochua, was profiled in the documentary play Seven. ...

Would you help an old friend through the rough times
Alegre has finally added a PayPal donation button to her site and I'm begging everyone who can, to give something. $5 or $25, it all helps when both have been laid off and you have kids.
If you were thinking of clicking my Donate button, please go help Alegre instead. But I won't refuse your kick next month.
Alegre's Corner http://alegrescorner.soapblox.net/ the button is on the left.
So, why am I begging for the one who's site I left and visit very rarely?
