White House
Incompetence or Malevolence?
Millions of barrels of oil have leaked into our Gulf waters for over seventy days, wrecking havoc on natural habitats and the coastal ecosystem, especially the beautiful living creatures who call it home. For all his bravo and big talk, POTUS #44 is showing himself to be even less effective than POTUS #43, in meeting the challenges of a national disaster. Despite Katrina, GW will always have his iconic image at Ground Zero engraved in our collective memories. Obama, on the other hand, has nothing in his entire history to make us believe he feels our pain.
God help us. (What terrible trick of fortune took us from bad to worse?)
Under Obama’s control, our Federal Government is too bloated; it is stuck in the mire of bureaucracy. Oil skimmers that were sent to the Gulf were sidelined, because they didn’t meet EPA standards, or union hiring rules, or the Jones Act. It seems the government is looking for any excuse not to do its job.
The State Department was quick to make a definitive comment, deriding Israel during the Turkish Terrorist Flotilla incident. Yet, to save the Gulf, it can’t get its act together to work with foreign governments that have volunteered to help us. The Dems rammed TARP, Obamacare, and their collective pay raise through Congress, but they can’t seem to come up with a strategy to “plug the damn hole.”
Blago & the Chicago/ Washington Way
Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (shown left, closest to story) is on trial in Chicago. Blagojevich has pleaded not guilty to scheming to sell or trade the appointment to Obama's old US Senate seat. He has also pleaded not guilty to plotting to launch a racketeering scheme. If convicted, he could face up to $6 million in fines and a sentence of 415 years in prison.
John Harris (Far-left photo) was Blagojevich’s former chief of staff. Harris testified last week in the former governor’s corruption trial. What he said does not reflect well on the President of the United States.
Harris testified that three days after the Nov. 4, 2008 Presidential Election, Blagojevich told him that he felt confident Obama knew he wanted to swap perks. Harris said he believed Barack Obama knew of Blagojevich’s plot to win himself a presidential Cabinet post, in exchange for appointing Valerie Jarrett to the U.S. Senate. According to an article in the Chicago Sun Times, Harris had much to share during his testimony:
Bomb Suspect Arrested on Way to Dubai
Yesterday, the Feds arrested Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistani who lives in Connecticut, in connection with Saturday’s attempted New York bombing that forced the evacuation of Times Square. Shahzad, a Pakistani who became a naturalized American citizen last year, was caught at JFK Airport trying to board a plane. Attorney General Eric Holder says Shahzad, who is scheduled to appear in Manhattan Federal Court today, was headed for Dubai. Eric Holder called the investigation “ongoing” and said: "The American people should know that we are deploying every resource available, and we will not rest until we have brought everyone responsible to justice.”
Progressives & the Value-Added Tax
Paul Volcker (L), White House adviser and former Chairman of the Federal Reserve under both Carter and Reagan, spoke at a New York Historical Society event this week. During his remarks, Volcker said the US must consider a “European-style Value-Added Tax” to address the fiscal debt crisis facing the federal government, even though it was an unpopular idea. He said it succinctly: “If at the end of the day we need to raise taxes, we should raise taxes.”
Paul Volcker’s New York comment introduces the next phase of the Progressive’s indoctrination of our citizens. He is a member of the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board, which he also chairs. Volcker knows the future the Obama administration has planned for us. We are following Europe’s path.
A VAT would tax purchases at 10-15% and generate the money needed to pay for the POTUS’ agenda. It would be imposed like a Federal Sales Tax and be paid along the chain of production by both wholesalers and retailers. It is a cumulative tax, because everyone in the chain of production, sale, and purchase of a product pays a tax. The added cost is passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices. A VAT would hit middle and lower earners harder than the rich, because they will pay a higher portion of their income to buy things than the rich will pay.
White House Spin, or Do They Really Believe It?
Does the Obama Administration believe what's coming out of the White House? I don’t think so, and there seems to be more than a few Americans who agree with me. Unfortunately, we see it as lies and obfuscation or what strategists like to call "political spin". The Obama team is simply pretending that Scott Brown's victory was not blowback resulting from its own actions. It has decided to create a smoke screen rather than appear weak. They know there are people who will actually believe them. They also know our unethical media types will disseminate their lies spin without question.
Like President Obama in his Wednesday interview with Stephanopoulos, Robert Gibbs took up air space today to spread the White House's convoluted logic. With unflinching eyes, both men firmly stated that Scott Brown's victory was not a repudiation of Obama’s agenda and the Democratic Majority’s Congressional governance, despite the fact that Brown is a Republican who has won a very Blue Senate seat.

Obama, Netanyahu meet at White House, Followed by Media Blackout (Updated)
Uh oh, this isn't good. Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu flew to Washington with some staff members to meet with the president Monday night but the usual photo op didn't happen. The meeting was held behind closed doors and the usual post-meeting news conference didn't happen. Something is up and it isn't good. Only two subjects were on the agenda: the peace process and Iran. Obama wants to give Iran more time to respond to the idea of shipping enriched uranium to Russia for further processing. So far, Iran has flatly rejected the idea. This isn't a new idea, either. It was first mentioned several years ago as a way to keep Iran from making progress on its covert crash nuclear weapons development program.
All major leaders of the free world have stated that Iran cannot be allowed to possess nuclear weapons. Germany PM Angela Merkel made a similar statement to a joint session of Congress recently. Sunni Arab states have been urging the US and Israel to deal with the issue and soon. Time is running out but it seems Obama and Netanyahu can't come to terms. Israel may be forced to act on her own if our dithering president can't take decisive action.
During the first quarter of next year, either Iran will have to yield to efforts to curtail their nuclear weapons program or suffer an attack. An ultimatum is fast approaching.
Obama deals and Progressives lament
“ I'm a strong supporter of universal health insurance, and a fan of the Obama administration. But I'm appalled by the deal the White House has made with the pharmaceutical industry's lobbying arm to buy their support.”
America's Orwellian Moment

Tonight, George Orwell’s 1984 becomes a reality in America as ABC NEWS relinquishes its role as an independent American news outlet and fully embraces the position that many of us have suspected it has coveted for awhile. Mark it in your calendars; on the night of June 24, 2009, Charlie Gibson will deliver World News from the Blue Room in the White House, and the media and the federal government will officially become one and the same. After Gibson’s Orwellian moment, ABC will throw caution to the wind and turn its programming over to the POTUS and his groupies as they push for government health care.
