President Clinton to Skip Arkansas Free Clinic, Blames Olbermann for Politicizing Event

Bill Clinton told FDL’s Eve Gittelson that it would be problematic for him to attend a free medical clinic being held in Little Rock, Arkansas tomorrow because MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann had “politicized” the event.” He indicated that some were turning the event into a primary kickoff against Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln.

In his first bill, Franken is trying to help wounded vets obtain companion dogs.  I think this is an awesome thing to do but it's funny what Glenn Thrush at Politico had to say.

I'm not questioning Franken's motivation here -- he seems genuinely moved by the issue. But it's also another signal that Franken, a caustic critic of the Iraq War, intends to follow Hillary Clinton's workhorse-not-showhorse strategy in the Senate: In Clinton's case, she focused on wounder warrior legislation and up-armoring Humvees. 

What may I ask Mr. Thrush is wrong with how Hillary Clinton approached the job of Senator?  Do you not like that she picked issues and fought like hell to find solutions?  Would you rather all Senators be like his Oliness, former Senator Barack Obama, and not do a damn useful thing while Senator?

I applaud Al Franken for getting down to business with and for the people he cares about, our wounded vets.

Minnesota freshman Al Franken has pumped out his first bill, a measure allocating funds to buy and train service dogs for wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

I could put it on eBay for a few bucks, or Craigslist even.  I mean, I can't wear it out in public anymore since people will throw pies and call me a PUMA dead ender.

What to do?  Bids?
