The NRA can't buy me. They've spent too much buying Obama

Hillary Clinton is now the second member of the Obama administration to be shot down on talk of once again banning assault weapons.  The first was Attorney General Eric Holder.  Both of these honest officials have stated what they know in their hearts but the administration of no lobbyists, the candidate of no special interests have asked them to effectively shut up so as not to offend the NRA.

After meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderón, Clinton said that reinstating the U.S. ban on assault weapons—which was passed in 1994 and expired in 2004—is one step this country could take to curb the flow of guns to Mexico's drug cartels. "These military-style weapons don't belong on anybody's street," Clinton told NBC. Within hours, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters that he was unaware of "any plans" to push for such a ban—even though Obama had backed one during last year's campaign.

But wait.  Obama wouldn't back off a campaign promise would he?

Attorney General Eric Holder had a similar experience a few weeks earlier. After he endorsed a ban at a Feb. 25 press conference, Justice officials were instructed by White House aides to drop the issue, according to administration and congressional aides who asked not to be named due to political sensitivities. What's behind the shift? A budding relationship between the gun lobby and Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill. After Holder mentioned the ban, the National Rifle Association sent out action alerts to its members and bombarded Hill offices with calls. Sixty-five House Dems dashed off a letter to Holder opposing such a ban, while Speaker Nancy Pelosi—echoing the NRA's mantra on all gun-control issues—said she backed "enforcing the laws we have now."

Hell yeah! No lobbying, no special interests. Welcome to wonderland folks, where his Oliness Barack the First lies when the truth is better and takes money from the very groups he supposedly opposed.

Last year Democrats received 20 percent of the nearly $1.2 million that the NRA pumped into congressional campaign coffers—more than twice what it gave to Dems just six years earlier. The way things are going, this could be more than a shotgun wedding.

Me, and I ask my gun owning friends to bear with me tonight, I believed in a Woman.  In fact I still believe in Hillary Clinton because she has yet to lie to me.  Today I'm wondering what it will take for her to resign with the pride she deserves.

We will always save a spot for Hillary under the bus.

Yes, there needs to be a ban on assault weapons!  People don't need to use them to hunt with or to have in their home for protection.

I guess their progressive thinking doesn't concern itself with making American streets safer for citizens. They have bigger fish to fry.

Even gun advocates should be upset by this.  Because what it shows is a complete lack of integrity on issues.  The opinion they have purchased today can be just as easily abandoned tomorrow if it becomes a political liability or overcome by a stronger lobbying group.  It's clear that Obama stands for nothing, fights for nothing.

I used to think that the one issue I could identify that he actually believed in was habeus corpus.  That too has fallen by the wayside.  So nearly as I can tell, Obama has no convictions and no loyalty to any principles at all - Democratic, Republican nor any other.

Hi lizpolaris...I wholeheartedly agree.  Obama is what I like to call a "shapeshifter."  He becomes whoever he thinks the particular person or group wants him to be at the time.  Haven't we all encountered someone like that in our personal lives?  I sure have.  This is the way he fools everyone into thinking he gives a crap.  He has no conviction except the advancement of himself.  I have tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I doubt I'll be doing that anymore.  I can see now, that he never had any intention of doing any of the things he promised, because that would take courage, and it doesn't appear that he has any.

She swallowed most of it when she signed on to this administration.

Think how nice it would be to have Hillary back in the Senate putting the brakes on this runaway train of Obama's.  Dog knows nobody there now seems to have guts enough to oppose him.

But maybe, given Hillary's sense of party loyalty, she'd go along with the herd.

It's telling that our border problems got out of hand after the ban on assault weapons expired in 2004.  Thanks a lot, Shrub.

But aren't the drug sellers simply killing each other?  Is this all bad?

I'm rambling.  More coffee!
