Out of Iraq? When? Who? How many?
I am going to say it again.
And I am going to keep repeating it until everyone stops believing Obama when he pronounces his New Date For Withdrawal From Iraq.
The most recent date Obama has given is the "end of 2010."
There are TWO problems with that "withdrawal" date:
(1) even if he keeps his word (not likely since we're talking about Barack Obama), he still plans to leave 50,000 troops IN Iraq
(2) I'll believe it when it happens
You see, Obama has set many dates for "Withdrawal From Iraq."
The first time Obama gave us his "Withdrawal From Iraq" date was January 15, 2008, at a Democratic debate -- just two weeks prior to very important the Super Tuesday voting.
Here was Obama on January 15, 2008, at the Democratic debate: "I have opposed this war consistently. I have put forward a plan that will get our troops OUT [of Iraq] BY THE END OF 2009." <http://tinyurl.com/67nhtg> That would be a mere ELEVEN months after being sworn in as president.
The Obamabots bought that "plan" hook line and sinker; they believed Obama.
Later -- after winning votes from many anti-Iraq war people on Super Tuesday, Obama CHANGED his "Withdrawal From Iraq" date to be SIXTEEN months after becoming president.
(During the primary campaign, Hillary had more common sense than to make such foolish statements without knowing what the conditions in Iraq would be a year or two down the road. As a matter of fact, conditions in Iraq are quieter now than they were on Jan. 15, 2008, when Obama made his reckless statement; so why does Obama feel the need to persist in extending and extending the stay of our troops? Oh, he spoke to the military (ha-ha). You see, Hillary KNEW the president would have to consult with the military before removing troops from Iraq, and so she would not make the wild statement Obama made -- but that reckless and meaningless statement won Super Tuesday votes for Obama, didn't it? I guess the public enjoys being hoodwinked.)
Now, safely ensconced in the White House, Obama has CHANGED his "Withdrawal From Iraq" date (again) to be Aug. 31, 2010 -- NINETEEN months after being inaugurated. http://tinyurl.com/c7hr4p
And, even then, he is leaving 50,000 troops in Iraq -- till whenever.
So, as I said above, I'll believe it when Obama actually withdraws the troops from Iraq.
