I joked about this back in the fall but I did not expect it until his Oliness has at least done something.  Something that relegates him to the heights of Mt. Rushmore, something deserving of President for Life.

Representative Jose Serrano of NY has actually filed to repeal the 22nd. amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.

I hope this is a joke because if not, this will be the thing that gets me to march on DC with my machete in hand.

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual... (Introduced in House)

I keep going into www.govtrack.us to see if it's doing anything.  It just says it's in committee.

If it goes anywhere, I'll be writing daily to my Congressmen to vote NO.  And if they don't ... well I've already decided I'm not voting for one of them next election anyway and the other two will join him on the list of "Who I Will NOT Be Voting For".  We need term limits on our President and our Congress.  The corruption is running way too deep there right now.

It would take years like any amendment.  You know like the ERA

I would love to think of it as a joke if it

1) weren't for the primaries

2) or the fact that on one of the blogs I was lurking on some idiot writing he wouldn't mind if Obama became dictator

Between the corruption and the stupidity of the obots who still haven't woken up yet, I could see this passing while us women continue to wait on the ERA.  It does appear from what I've been reading, some of the obots are starting to wake up to the fact Obama is not the man they thought he was.  I think the longer that bill doesn't go anywhere the better.  By the end of this year, I'm thinking no one will want to see term limits dropped and more people wishing 2012 would hurry up and get here faster.

If Obama continues the course of action he has started his poll numbers will continue to plummet and the Dems with lose their majority numbers in the next election. If that happens, he will be lucky to finish the term without impeachment proceedings being started against him.

If it ever comes to a march I am with you. I don't own a machete, but I have a broom, which we will need to sweep the bastards out.

Maybe we'll just get PUMA Claws

Oh, no no no no no!!!  They will find a way to make sure Obama is president forever if they manage this.  I say term limits for everybody.   They make a career out of something that was supposed to be a temporary gig.  Term limits for EVERYBODY would mean a more effective Congress.

And so it begins...

I told you so!

let's get someone to propose a recall amendment to the constitution.

I like that idea.  We will recall presidents and members of congress, just like they did all those tainted peanut butter products.

Why give the people a taste of Congress's power if they don't have to? And my first thought on reading the OP was "Great!! We can get Bill and Hill to clean up the mess this tyro is going to leave!" I am sure that the Clintons, after cleaning up the mess will retire gracefully into the sunset.. or at least to elder statesmen positions and do speeches and write books. Unlike the present occupant of the White House, Bill and Hillary are patriots with a healthy and fervent respect for the United States Constitution. Obummer may have been a "Constitutional scholar", but he never really "got it" about the Constitution. The Clintons do get it. His middle name, is after all, Jefferson. I bet Bill can quote more of Jefferson than Obummer can quote of Lincoln. Evil

on my car post haste.  Smiling

Great Idea masslib. Or Clinton / Clinton Hill and Bill

Eye-wink

As I commented somewhere when this was discussed, this should mean the Big Dawg can run again!  Cool

I want to set more term limits not get rid of the ones that we have.

I voted for Bill Clinton twice. I voted for Hillary Clinton once. Enough.

The "dynasty" thing is what kept me off the Hillary Clinton bandwagon for so long.  In the end, she was so d@mn good it was impossible to be opposed to her.

I'm a firm believer in term limits...even more so for Congress than I am for the president.  If they knew it would be eight years and out maybe they'd spend less time selling their souls to the moneyed interests and more doing the job they were elected to do.

I told you so!

I became a Hillary Clinton fan for the same reason.

I also believe that if politicians knew they would have one 8 year term and out we would all be better off for it.

I am sick and damn tired of the same people dominating politics. Enough damn Kennedys, Bushes, Clintons et al. We are a nation of over 300 million people, surely there are some talented and honest people who want to serve? Note I said "honest" which leaves the Bozo in the White House out.

Anyone keeping track of how many campaign promises he's broken in the short time he's been sitting in the Oval Office? No lobbyists and transparency are two for sure.

you think it's a great idea since it will let Bill come back as President. The Democratic Party, aka the DNC, would commit suicide en masse before they would let that happen. Touting the bill as the way to get Bill Clinton back in the White House is the best way to kill it stone cold dead. Evil

Democrats kept charging the Republicans would do this and it never happened.  I guess it was wishful thinking and now they are in the mode to make all their wishes come true.
