Here's a link to Hillary's confirmation hearing (she brought Chelsea with her), if you don't mind hearing Kerry and Lugar drone on and on and on...
http://www.cnn.com/video/flashLive/live.html?stream=stream3 If that doesn't work for some reason, go to cnn.com and there's a link at the top of the page.

I slept late in Cali.
Now that Richardson is free from that commerce job they were thinking of offering SOS to him.

...it somewhere and watch some of it. She was a shining star, as usual. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!
Wrong person taking that big oath next week.

I agree, Cal, she has been smart and articulate. The MSM is still trying to bring up donations to Dig Dawg's organization, but that is being kicked to the curb it seems. Also, now they have problems with one of Obama's nominees not paying back taxes for three years, so that is getting the focus.
I could only watch during the morning hours. I don't have C-SPAN3 and can't afford high speed internet. I will just have to wait til the replay late at night on C-SPAN, I guess. I think it is almost a insult for Hillary to have to go through this process, but that's the way it is. I almost got ill having to listen to Kerry go on and on. I can't believe I actually voted for the man for president.
...MSNBO will run some of it tonight. The culture in these hearings is interesting. Lots of genuflecting to the chair was the order of the day.
Hill did us proud.

and I even gave up time to work in his Chicago office. Still, in comparison, at that time there wasn't any choice. I really didn't like Edwards even then, so I sort of held my nose the whole time.
who gives me any hope that Obama won't screw things up too badly. I managed to watch some of the hearing on C-SPAN and I read some of her remarks. I'm very interested in the Iran question and Hillary's answer seemed reasonable.
There's a NewsMax article that suggests Israel could strike Iran at any moment. I tend to discount that article for a couple of important reasons.
1. A shipment of 3,000 tons of ammo to Israel has been delayed by Greece.
2. Hillary said it'd be easier to get world opinion on our side if the US engages in negotiations with Iran. If the talks fail to persuade Iran from discontinuing its nuclear weapons program, the military option would be more acceptable.
I know I'm being perverse but a strike on Iran by the US, Israel or both would goose the hell out of oil prices, thus boosting the economies of oil producing countries and to some extent, the world economy.
...who gives me any hope that Obama won't screw things up too badly." Agreed!
Whoa, I just saw a portion of the hearing that I'd missed earlier today. She had an exchange with Vitter and he was a COMPLETE ASSHOLE to her. "If I have to listen to this blah blah blah..."

about the culture it is interesting, because they are so full of themselves. Blah-blah-blah and blah. When they know the country really has its eye on them they get worse.

is probably right; as a new administration they must make an attempt. The world will be looking, and they have to show that they are willing to work with them. I think I read that they want to meet with some spiritual leader not Ahmadinejed. I don't know who that would be, because since the Iran hostage crisis I've always thought the spiritual leaders over there were the problem. Maybe there is someone with an open mind over there (I doubt it though).
...actually just a front man anyway for the real power, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei?

that according to the UK's Telegraph, Obama loves Lincoln so he is paying homage to Lincoln by not only taking the oath on the Bible Lincoln used for his Inauguration, but also (according to the Telegraph):
"Emmett Beliveau, director of the presidential inaugural committee, said: "The President-elect is committed to holding an inauguration that celebrates America's unity, and the use of this historic bible will provide a powerful connection to our common past and common heritage." He will then repair for a formal lunch modelled on foods enjoyed by Lincoln and eaten off replicate china picked out by his wife for his first inauguration in 1861."
Given this hype, it's possible Michelle will wear Mary Todd Lincoln's Inaugural dress.
got me with that one

(I'm sorry about the comment above; it was suppose to go in Hampy's dress diary. I had two windows opened and I messed up.)
Anyhow, back to the question at hand.
I don't know why they are giving Hillary such a hard time about the ex-Prez's foundation and its donations. Clinton has allowed them to look at his books, and I think that I read the foundation has been doing good work fighting malaria and AIDS in third world countries. I don't know why these people hate the Clintons so much, but had no problem with Bush and Cheney until the end of their second term. (They still haven't asked to look at Cheney's books,)
They have decided to give Obama a free ride now. No outrage about not providing a birth certificate, transcripts, and medical records. No real investigation of his relationships with shadey characters.
They cherry pick? No, I don't think so. There are rich and powerful people dictating who they go after.
I am really disturbed about the current state of our political system. For two years, I was hoping this election would make things better. It didn't. We just keep going further down into the abyss.
The way I feel, I may never vote again. What for? The system is corrupt; the voting, the elected officials, the process have been corrupted. It is so deep and prevalent that people excuse it as "politics."
I always believed in our system of government; I didn't realize that there were so many who were willing to profit in terms of wealth and power at its expense. I was naive.
While I don't trust him, and clearly a lot of people must see what a liar he is, they can see that OTHER people trust him and he is changing the mood of the country and getting people to trust their government again.
Did other people see what we saw but vote for him anyway?
BJ, I'm going to keep voting. If for nothing else than to test my resistance/willpower LOL.
..."they can see that OTHER people trust him and he is changing the mood of the country and getting people to trust their government again."
We'll see, Cat, we'll see.... What are they trusting?
nobody trusts him, but they think the people NEXT TO THEM trust him, so everyone's keeping their mouths shut LOL
LOL
