YummyYes, I am thankful.  Not personally to any higher power but rather to America, my Friends in the loyal opposition and of course my family.

Even my dear wife who gets all giggly at the mention of Obama.  It is mostly due to her hard work that we'll be able to enjoy a turkey dinner at a Vermont Inn with our son and his girl friend.  Yeah, I'll get stuck with the bill but she paid for the propane to heat our house.

I am truly thankful that I live in the only country that perhaps values our transition of power as much as we value our form of government itself.  Thankful that no matter what we each believe politically, we all believe more in continuity of the country.  To witness the hateful Bush Administration bending over backwards to work with the incoming Obamas to insure a smooth transition, is, well, that is America.  That is awe inspiring.  That is what makes us different than everyone else.

Add to that the plain fact that we who still grieve for a stolen primary and the sexism that brought it on, we too are pulling for a smooth transition.  In fact I know most of us who fought against the bastard and are waiting to call him out on his screw-up’s.  We too wish him success and hope we are wrong about the man while still knowing we are right to detest the campaign that put him where he is.

Yes, I am Thankful this Thanksgiving.

I’m thankful for all the friends I’ve made who I may never meet in person.  The incredible gang of Hillary supporters on DU who went our separate ways in the Diaspora and find ourselves back in touch yet again.  That Flying Monkey Squadron Alegre brought me into at dKos is something I will forever be thankful for.  I met and wrote with some crazy Hilbots and though we parted ways the last few months, I still count them among my online friends. In that same group, I met a woman named Susan who invited me to spread my snark to NoQuarter and damned if I’m not thankful to be counted among such a group of brilliant writers.

And the Partisans of my Partizane who want to go forward from this low point in history to never again lose focus on the goal of melting that Plexiglas ceiling once and forever.  I am really thankful that the last 2 years have woken so many people out of their slumber.  That a new movement is stirring.  A new women’s movement that accepts old guys like me, with all our male faults.  Thank you.

And of course I’m thankful for my family of Obama supporters who being Americans first, have accepted me the stray back into the family.  That doesn’t mean we can talk about O but our family and our country come first.  My daughter and her O’bot fiancé never put politics ahead of family.  We are one and we are planning a wedding next spring.  But no kids named Barack or Michelle.  That’s where I draw the line.

I’m thankful for you my friends.  That, in this great country we can shout and swear, piss each other off, troll bait each other, yet all be Americans.  Yeah, I’m even thankful for the trolls.  Heck some places I’m a troll.  But trolls perhaps most of all, allow us Americans to never forget that we may not agree but we will fight to the death to defend the right to disagree.

Thank you for reading this old guy's words, and may you have a Wonderful, Thankful, Thanksgiving.

Have a super Thanksgiving NH.  And on your way back home from that GREAT dinner in Vermont, you can stop at the W Lebanon Liquor Store and pick up a bottle of Tamnavulin for me, OK?   :)

Have good ones and safe travels.

CHEERS TO YOU!

And....a good thing you didn't buy your own turkey this year, now that they are recalling Butterballs too.  I hear they forgot to butter their balls. (ba da bum bum!)

but I laughed.

Have yourself a good one too.

I never go to the west leb store.  Way too much traffic and I have a store about 2 miles from home.

Yes, it is in a VERY busy location, but I thought it was near the highway if you were taking that from Vermont.  :)

Dan works at Okemo and we're having TG at an 1840s Inn.  staying at the same Inn for Christmas week.

Evil Tamnavulin $26.99 just about what I pay for my Maker's Mark.

I miss your neck of the woods.  We were so close to moving to the Burlington area, until we found out that the stats I was seeing online weren't complete and property taxes in that area were aprox 3 percent and based on "retail market rate".  We couldn't afford to move there, even if hubby had a good job with decent pay, the jobs are always in question on job security in a small market.  Paying 9000.00 a year on property taxes just made me choke.

But as they say, things happen for a reason.  And what a ride I've been on since Sep 2004. Smiling

Are you trying to torture me with that price tease?  WOW, good to know the price is still decently low, considering our dollar, etc.  Let me know if you every try it.

My daughter is home from college, and now with both my kids here in our house all is right with the world.  Your Thanksgiving dinner at an inn in Vermont sounds delightful---Best wishes for a wonderful holiday.  And thanks for setting up such a great blogsite as this one.

to you, Hampster. I am grateful to have noticed you on Blue Hampshire (my first blog experience), then on dkos. And so the story goes. Thanks for keeping the light on at Partizane. Have a wonderful day with your family.

Happy Turkey Day to all Partizanes!

I sort of got run out of town although BlueHampshire has some great people.  That Miss Laura is much nicer than her alter ego Evil at dKos.

Hey NewHampster , best wishes to you and yours and the detente you are now experiencing. Giggles and all. Cool

I thought you would find this mmm (what word to use?) a good read on what we struggle for.

"War on Liberty",  The Honorable Judge Saunders http://www.justicesanders.com/2007April4WarOnLiberty[1].htm

That should be required reading for all.

Thanks Teak.  Happy TG

and to all partizaners, everybody. You made the last few months a lot more tolerable.

For having my chick at home.

For a bottle of "real" Nyquil.

For friends who are still there...even when I'm not.

For good books and the time to read them.

For a new oven that made a year-old, slightly freezer-burned turkey perfect.

For four cans of cranberry sauce.  There's a communication problem in there somewhere.

For an election that was held when I feared it would be cancelled.  We won't go into the rest of the process.

For that baby above...and all other babies and kids who are proof that life should indeed go on.

For the man who helps with the turkey, cooks and mashes the potatoes and then washes the dishes and is the perfect host at any dinner.

And for another man, who can keeps house at my home on the net and can voice some of my own thoughts better than I can.

Happy day after, all.
