"Behind every successful woman there's an astonished man" Updated w/Video

Why did I not know this until I was browsing my favorite news site, the BBC?
Woman reaches US army's top rank
An American woman has been promoted to four-star general - the first female to reach the US army's highest rank.
In her acceptance speech, Ann E Dunwoody said she had never expected to rise so high in the ranks in her 33-year career.
She said no one was more surprised than she and her husband. "Behind every successful woman there's an astonished man," she added.
There are 21 female generals, most of them one-star, in the US army.
Women make up 14% of the army's active-service strength of more than 500,000 soldiers.
Seriously. We need to find and post every story about every single successful woman. General Dunwoody, a boring logistics expert, needs to be an inspiration for some girl out there. I feel it's our job to be sure that girl hears the news.
This is the ceremony. Awesome and funny too.

Three cheers for General Dunwoody!
A Republican who appointed the first woman 4 star. Why am I not surprised.

There is something to that. I swear.
not as a group -- but he surrounds himself -- Condi and Harriet Miers come to mind, but others as well.
I don't know if it's from genuine egalitarianism or if he finds them less-threatening than men, but I do give him credit for it.
Isn’t the promotion of General Dunwoody like historical or something? Being the first and all? But then it’s about a female so it’s probably not all that important.
Whatever, good for General Dunwoody! And she may be a wonk, but it appears she’s a wonk with a sense of humor. What’s not to like about that? Or the fact that she seems to have risen on her own talent and hard work. I love the quote: “Behind every successful woman there's an astonished man".
If the so-called "feminists" in this country worked 1/2 as hard at promoting women and giving little girls something to aspire to as you do NH maybe women would be in a better place.

I loved her comment.

something about a man pinning the stars on his wife --just seeing the role reversal and then they kissed.
It takes strong men to support women.
And her "astonished man" comment makes me LOL.
