In Honor of Dad

Dad served in WW II
He passed away September 26 at 94 having lived the life most of us dream of. He always had his health, love, family and did everything he every desired, without ever being rich in dollars. He sailed and played tennis up until a few years ago and we all think that not being able to play tennis with the young guys (70 - 85) anymore is what really killed him.
His ashes were interred at the VA cemetary, Lake Worth, FL, on October 25th and my son brought me home the flag. Mom, after 70 years of marraige, is trying to clean out the closets not fill them.
So here's to all the veteran's of the greatest generation. They were a heck of a bunch of life loving folks.

Of course Veteran's Day is not Memorial Day but…
We just buried my uncle at Arlington Cemetery on Halloween. He landed at Normandy, was wounded, and then captured by the Germans as a POW. Awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. My grandfather (mom's dad) served in WWI, my dad served in WWII, and I served in Vietnam. An ancestor served in the Revolutionary War against the British.
Honor the vets on Veterans Day and honor the honored dead on Memorial Day. I'm celebrating by placing a special order for breakfast. ;)
and I'm sure you'll be celebrating 11/11/11 at 11:11 am and 11:11 pm.
