Just for fun

We finally got out today after paying some guys to dig us out of the snowdrifts. Our friendly neighborhood Safeway was mostly fully stocked. We called first just to make sure. We even got flowers and a balloon for Valentine's Day and to help us celebrate the anniversary of meeting each other for the first time at a free university class in 1971. Here's how our front yard looked this morning.

Pictured in the center is my wife's car. The little black spot is her side-view mirror.

Just for fun, "The Happiness Machine:"
Once upon a time, when I was a kid, my father was a vending machine repairman so I thought that clip was fun.

Loved the Happiness Machine. That had me laughing all the way.
Been sort of out-of-touch the past week, so I didn't realize what was going on with Greece. What surprises me is that it didn't happen twenty-five years ago. Back in the '80's, when I was chasing around Europe on airline passes, I was floored to find that the airport cafes in Amsterdam would not accept Greek currency. Almost anything else was fine (the dollar being preferred, of course) but Greek money had no value there. Evidently Greece has been headed down this path for quite some time. I don't imagine the implosion of the rest of the world's economy helped.
It's weird to see all these pictures of snow somewhere else but here. My sister sent pics from Pittsburgh. She's got over two feet so far. The worst part is, there is snow in her forecast for the next five days.
Hope all out east are staying warm and dry. I'll be thinkin' of you.
GONE FISHING
That's interesting about Greece. Didn't know that. As for snow, we have more on the way for President's Day into Tuesday. Something maybe next Friday, too. A Metro train derailed this morning, no injuries. Some 345 people onboard. Two cars of a 6-car train jumped the tracks in a tunnel near the Farragut North station near Dupont Circle. Those in the derailed cars were moved to the 4 good cars, decoupled from the derailed cars, and brought to a station platform. Today is the first day the federal government offices in DC have been open since noon on Friday last week.
A snowplow went back and forth on my street last night with the blade up about 4 inches to smooth the snow. I think I can drive on it now without bottoming out.
and the happiness machine, great stuff. Glad Safeway was stocked. What an adventure to make your Valentine's day even more romantic.
