Looks like the DNC rules committee to me, besides being a Compaq. LOL Happy Holidays Creeper.

You question the DNC? Eye-wink

I bet Howard does too

tried numbers, and they worked.  go figure...........

Jane Hamsher's list of reasons to kill it:

How bad is the bill?

  1. Forces you to pay up to 8% of your income to private insurance corporations -- whether you want to or not;
  2. If you refuse to buy the insurance,  you'll have to pay penalties of up to 2% of your annual income to the IRS;
  3. After being forced to pay thousands in premiums for junk insurance, you can still be on the hook for up to $11,900 a year in out-of-pocket medical expenses;
  4. Massive restriction on a woman's right to choose, designed to trigger a challenge to Roe v. Wade in the Supreme Court;
  5. Paid for by taxes on the middle class insurance plan you have right now through your employer, causing them to cut back benefits and increase co-ays;
  6. Many of the taxes to pay for the bill start now, but most Americans won't see any benefits -- like an end to discrimination against those with preexisting conditions -- until 2014 when the program begins;
  7. Allows insurance companies to charge people who are older 300% more than others;
  8. Grants monopolies to to drug companies that will keep generic versions of expensive biotech drugs from ever coming to market;
  9. No reimportation of prescription drugs, which would save consumers $100 billion over 10 years;
  10. The cost of medical care will continue to rise, and insurance premiums for a family of 4 will rise an average of $1000 a year -- meaning in 10 years, you family's insurance premium will be $10,000 more annually than it is right now.

I could go on, but it should be clear: this is not reform.  This is a con job.

Eliot Spitzer, who may have cheated on his wife but knows a lot about Wall Street, said it's really misnamed, it is actually a Health Insurance Expansion bill (which Spitzer says is a "good thing") but there is no reform in this bill.

Reform was starting to sprout in little places, albeit slowly. This bill will wipe that all out.

Here in SF they even implemented a single-payer system. The local Starbucks Baristas say Healthy San Francisco is their provider. It is a bare-bones, minimum level of care giving each patient a "medical home" (local medical clinic where the rest of their care is coordinated from) and each patient's entry into a system is first with their assigned primary care doctor. Dental and vision services are not included, nor are fertility treatments or gastric bypass surgery, plastic surgery or other things in order to keep costs down.

National Nurses association says the bill will "further lock into place" what needs reform:

"Sadly, we have ended up with legislation that fails to meet the test of true health care reform, guaranteeing high quality, cost effective care for all Americans, and instead are further locking into place a system that entrenches the chokehold of the profit-making insurance giants on our health. If this bill passes, the industry will become more powerful and could be beyond the reach of reform for generations," she added.

Especially catching the Compaq icon.

But look at the stack on the right.  See anything odd?

Oh.  Maybe that was what you meant with your reference to DNC committee rules.  Yeah.  That fits.

I wish someone would explain the "aces and eights" thing to me.  Seger referenced "eights and aces" in his song "Fire Lake".  All these years later I still have no idea what he meant.

Random thoughts on a random Sunday.

WHERETHEHELL IS MY ERA???

The Term is referring to a "dead man's" hand.

from wiki (ya I know)

The dead man's hand is a two-pair poker hand, namely "aces and eights". The hand gets its name from the legend of it being the five-card-draw hand held by Wild Bill Hickok at the time of his murder (August 2, 1876).

I was looking at the that and thinking it is an interesting buffer overflow that can be used  an injection point.   XP has game code from 3.11. I just finished deploying the hardware for a 2008 Domain upgrade, this week the software transition. Then say good bye to XP at the desktop for the k12 kiddies.

I just upgraded to 7 and had to use the original Vista Drivers not bad so far... I wonder if the error can be replicated across different processors. what processor is it? and had the machine been on for a continued length of time?

Now THERE was an operating system.  I still miss it.  But then, I miss DOS even more.  My airline computers all ran on DOS and to this day I can barely get reservations work out of Windows.  "What do you mean it won't take a manual segment entry?!?!?  How else do I make a reservation???"

It's hell being a dinosaur.

Thanks for the explanation of "aces and eights", Teak.  I'm off to listen to Seger again.  "Fire Lake" should have new meaning now.

WHERETHEHELL IS MY ERA???

How'd that happen

Damifiknow, Hamp.  I think I moved the king down from the pile but didn't notice where it lit till the game petered out.  Oddly enough, I could move it to the empty square next door but not back manually.  However, if I hit "undo" it would go back of its own accord.  That's how I was able to get the screen shot after I'd tried moving it.

Geez, if they can't make Solitaire foolproof it's no wonder Windows is such a disaster.

In your task bar, firefox is on a page or search "how to take a screen shot".

In windows 7 I use the new clipping tool.

I got it done, didn't I?  Never claimed to be on the cutting edge of technology.  I've only owned a cell phone for two years and I'm still trying to translate Teak's response above.  "Buffer overflow"???  "Injection point"?!?  Ya know, that almost sounds pornographic.

If I were serious about this stuff I'd load Lotus SmartSuite on here and use its screen cam.  I'd still have to look up the directions, though, just as I did this time.

You go ahead and keep agitating for Win7 Hamp.  I'll keep on coveting a Mac.  ;-)

<sigh>  Maybe a Mac could get my smiley from code to face.
