The White House Website uses Drupal just like Partizane

I think this is a good thing.  http://www.whitehouse.gov/ and the new Executive blogs are running on the same open-source software that Partizane is built with.  Drupal is incredible software that can run a small site or a huge corporation.   This post is mostly off topic but it's my blog.

I especially like the administration supporting the open-source movement and the coders who contribute to the development of great software.  Locked down, privately developed and controlled software is the stuff of another age.  Yes, it will always be needed for specialized and secure applications which manage your laptop, but the heart of the Internet and Internet resident devices is a big heart because of open-source software.

My new Droid smart phone I get on Friday is built on linux with an open-source operating system called Android.  Google is behind it and drives it but it is open-source.  Meaning I can run any software I want on my phone.  If I don't like the supplied Google Navigation System (full turn by turn verbal GPS) I can get another if someone writes one.

But back to the White House websites.  Two days before the NH Primary I slipped Bill C. a note proposing a Federal Blog System.  One in which we all could interact, moderated, with administration officials.  Hillary put it in her primary eve speech at a health club in Manchester and I was proud.  The current admin has the blogs but so far I don't see interaction.  I haven't looked terribly hard so I could be wrong but the Open Government Blog does not appear to allow comments.  Is that open?

Yeah.  That blog is the same program as this, just with admins. who know what they're doing.

ps.  Open source believers like me want more people to use the same software thus adding to the momentum of development.  Four years ago I choose Moodle to build our company's eLearning on and watched as the user community has grown from a few thousand to 10s of thousands.  During the same time the committed programmers from all over the world has grown to a few hundred from the core 50 or so.

Don't understand this technology one.little.bit.  But I'll take your word for it that Drupal is a good thing.
