Health Care Reform? Under the bus. (and another pass of the tires over the gays too!)
By the time we get to November, there’s not going to be anything left of Obama’s campaign promises. Every single issue that is important to Democrats has been systematically tossed aside. FISA, offshore drilling, repealing the Bush tax cuts. You name it, he’s tossed it under the bus. He is even affecting important issues for Democrats without even doing anything, like the amendment to ban gay marriage in California.
SAN FRANCISCO — Could Senator Barack Obama’s popularity among black voters hurt gay couples in California who want to marry?…
Mr. Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, is against the measure. But opponents of the proposed ban worry that many black voters, enthused by Mr. Obama’s candidacy but traditionally conservative on issues involving homosexuality (ed note: in other words, hypocrites), could pour into voting stations in record numbers to punch the Obama ticket — and then cast a vote for Proposition 8. (No wonder he won’t help campaign against it!)
It almost seems like all of this was planned from the start. ….((runs to find tinfoil hat)). Now, the thing that was the holy grail of working class Democrats, Universal Health Care, or at the very least health care reform, has been thrown under the bus as well.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said on Tuesday a $700 billion Wall Street rescue plan would likely delay some campaign spending promises, as the reality sank in of the costs of the mammoth bailout.
Obama, who faces Republican John McCain in their first face-to-face debate on Friday in Mississippi, said if elected he might have to phase in some of his plans such as an overhaul of the U.S. health care system.
Oh well, we were willing to wait for ‘12 before, this only makes it that much easier to send Obama back to the sewers of Chicago.
****UPDATE**** Thanks to Meileen from The Confluence for pointing this out.
Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign is reportedly launching a “Faith, Family, and Values Tour” next week that will include Catholic legal scholar Douglas Kmiec as one of the campaign’s surrogates. Kmiec wrote an op-ed for the San Francisco Chronicle this summer in which he urged support for passing California’s marriage ban, Proposition 8.
Obama is now campaigning with a supporter of California’s Prop 8, a constitutional ban to CA’s now legal gay marriage. This should be unacceptable to anyone in the gay community. Contact HRC here and ask them if they will continue to endorse Obama.

He just ceded ground on the first 100 days of his fairy tale presidency. A baritone voice and clean look on a stupid man cannot change the fact that he's a stupid man.
Yes, I said stupid. And clean. Call me the 'R' word if you like. He's still stupid!
