How Barack Obama has changed!
We recently learned that President Obama has secretly made a sweetheart deal with Billy Tauzin, the former congressman turned chief lobbyist for the pharmaceutical industry. In return for $80 billion in projected cuts -- and $150 million in supportive television ads Obama has apparently sworn to protect the industry from congressional efforts to, among other things, let the government use its bargaining power to lower prescription drug costs.
Now flash back to April 2008, when the Obama campaign put out this ad, in which Obama held Tauzin up as an example of everything that was wrong with the game-playing in Washington.
It was convenient then. It sold well on Main St. But now that he wants a bill, any bill, he'd feckin deal with the devil, and he has.
Barack Obama is sadly, proving to be the lying, thieving, con man we thought he was. Too bad America.

It's hard for me to even open up the HuffPo page any more. The smell of kool-aid is still overpowering. I don't expect that to change soon. They may be a *hair* more reasonable over there, but not much.
GONE FISHING
I'm with you creeper. HuffPo could start running articles of nothing but negative things about Obama, and I still wouldn't go back and read it. Arianna is nothing more than a self-seving opportunist, just like Obama. There may be some posters on the blog who are brave enough, or embarrassed enough, to start printing what they are actually seeing instead of what they want to see, but it changes nothing for me.
How did we define change prior to the last election? What was hope all about? We hope we get our country back? By that we meant we get a representative government that listens to the people, right? By change, didn't the Obama supporters want someone who would be different and by that didn't they mean someone who could stand up to the corporatists and actually represent the people instead of the corporations? Didn't we hate VP Cheney because he met secretly with top energy corporations who wrote the Bush energy bill? Didn't we want something different? Wasn't the hope of getting a Dem majority in Congress all about having people in the legislative branch who would represent the best interests of the people, not the corporations?
So, what did we end up with? We here, at least, well and truly know. We have a Dem Speaker of the House, the first woman to hold that position, tell us we're un-American if we show up to town hall meetings with our representatives to question healthcare reform proposals. We have Obama's ACORN and SEIU thugs going to these meetings to intimidate, harass, and beat up those who question these bills. We had the same thugs plus the Blank Panthers threaten and intimidate voters last year.
We have a House healthcare bill, 3200, and a couple of other versions and GOP alternatives. What the Dems propose would cost a fortune, would insure illegal aliens, and would set up a huge, expensive bureaucracy that would take some decision-making ability from doctors. There's a proposal to cut Medicare and any cuts to that program would create a windfall for insurance companies.
The Democrats currently in power are corrupt enemies of the people. They're political whores who sold us out to corporate interests. We didn't get our country back and our country is about to be made worse by these slime balls.
The heroes in this melodrama are the Blue Dog Democrats who stood up to and defied Pelosi. The other Dems attacked them until Rahm Emmanuel told them it was stupid to do that. The GOP is attacking them, too, because they want those seats. The Blue Dogs are vulnerable.
The only way we can ever get our country back and have the change we need is for there to be comprehensive and effective campaign finance reform. Even before the last election, candidate Obama peed on McCain-Feingold. That was the first clear indication we were never going to get the hope and change Obama promised.

Ron, I've tried very hard not to let Obama ruin what the words "hope" and "change" mean for me. It is very frustrating to be sold a bill of goods like Obama has sold this country, but at least we can say that we, here at Partizane, never fell for it. We have been able to maintain our good common sense in all of this mess. As long as we, and others like us exist, then the desire for change and the promise of hope will always live.
This is Obama! This is who and what he is! A liar. A cheat. A phony.
But for the Obamacrat that wanted so desperately for him to be more, for him to be a combination of a knight on a big white horse and superman the reality is more than they can accept.
To admit that they, the self-bamboozled, were wrong all along takes bigger people than most of them are.
You can fool some of the people some of the time. And sometimes they are willing to fool themselves and save ya the trouble.
