Yes! Pistachio is winning!
Hi, you guys! Real life has been a bit overwhelming lately. But I'm still around, enjoying better living through chemistry.
The title of my post would indicate why I haven't been motivated to post lately. (Though pistachio is the best flavor of ice cream.) The main stream media seem intent on putting the laser focus on anything but real discussion of health care reform. Michael Jackson, Sarah Palin, and the poor 8 year old girl. Michelle Bachmann, the All Star game, and cash-for-clunkers. Sotomayor (again?), is it Iraq or Afghanistan, and Hillary gets insulted. Blah blah blah.
Let's get real - Obama has no health plan on the table. He has 'priorities.' The insurance companies are writing the plans - which are being created and presented in the House and Senate. These are not Obama's plans - and he's admitted he doesn't know what's in those 1000 pages. So what exactly is he selling? I don't know. But we can be sure that single payer is off the table. At least we have one certainty.
I love this Tom Tomorrow cartoon. www.salon.com/comics/tomo/2009/07/28/tomo/index.html
'No we can't' is the refrain every day regarding the only sane health CARE alternative, from everyone from Obama to Krugman to all the right wingers. We can't consider driving a stake throught the heart of the blood-sucking insurance company vampires who are literally feeding off the dead in this country.
So let's just keep giving our tax dollars to Goldman Sachs, and our health care money to insurance companies who deny us care (do you really think there will be any regulation in the new reforms?), and start paying taxes on the health insurance premiums our employers (no matter how small) will now be required to pay. Answer me this - why the heck do our employers have to be involved at all? Why does every business have to waste money on health insurance bureaucracy, in additional to all the health insurance companies' bureaucracy? Oh, maybe this is the new jobs creation plan? Or maybe the unemployed, who may also have run out of unemployment benefits, are not worthy persons to have health care either.
So to sum up, I'm not optimistic about health insurance reform. But otherwise, I'm feeling cheery. How are you?

Let's just hope the blue dogs prevail in their efforts to stop the insanity documented in H3200. You can get some idea of what they're trying to pull from here: The Provocateur: The Definitive Dossier on the House Health Care Bill (Pages 1-500) Part II
both the left and the right don't like the bill!

I'm feeling great too despite wrangling with used car dealers who all know just what I need and want at double the price I can afford.
Bumper sticker: Obamacare doesn't
my first ever, from a farmer's market. A delicious experience.

Anyone remember that penultimate sexist dingbat, Tucker Carlson? A sick bad dream from the past.
So he just got interviewed on F&F where he was all aroiled and aroused about what he said was a plot to teach our children that there was no difference between women and men. He is incensed, it seems, that news reports and adverts refer now to men AND women rather then using he, him, his only as they did formerly.
This is a terrible attack on man, manhood and comparable to the sin of leaving Maple Walnut out of the ice cream choices.
Off topic but important for bloggers to know!
A.P. Clamping Down on Bloggers; New Stance Will Stifle “Even Minimal Use” of News Articles Online

And I mean really clamping down…as in they’re going after anyone who even uses a headline and a link!! And they want their 1400 newspaper list to join in, too….
They don't want more readers? That's nuts!!! Or, rather, suicidal. But then, I haven't accused our media of being sane in quite some time.

Well, everyone will just go to other news sources. The AP will be screwed if they do this.
Evidently HE doesn't know, either.
This is frightening for everyone. Those without health coverage fear their chances of getting it are slipping away while those who do have coverage fear it being slashed.
THIS was where we needed Hillary. She took a lot of heat for her efforts when Bill was in office but the fact of the matter is she had a good plan that was trashed by her enemies. All the knowledge and experience she has went to waste.

This is all about image. "It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."
I found on an article by Thomas Sowell:
"And it's not like he even wants to lead this revolution . . . mainly
because he is inept at leadership and, quite frankly, not all that
interested in it. He simply wants be the one in the Oval Office when
it happens and to whom it can be ascribed in the history books."
Dead. Nuts. Perfect.

Remember the next line?..."All our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death."
And the "tale told by an idiot" line? Man, Shakespeare was way ahead of his time.
Did you know there are supposedly over 150 book titles inspired by Hamlet's soliloquy?
