WOMEN’S MUSIC IS MOSTLY ABOUT MEN sticky icon

Music, in one form or another, like most everything else, is about sex. So women in music, most of the time, are singing about sex. Candlelight and soft music has one destination in mind and it isn’t a night of scintillating talk about the meaning of life. It’s headed towards the nearest Sealy Posturepedic, tabletop, backseat, floor or wherever the more adventurous choose to have at each other. It’s all about sex baby.

Meatheads Muddle The Message sticky icon

Leave it to politicians to take something as important to the people of this country as “health care’ and turn it into a 3 ring circus. And in the center ring is a Ringmaster that doesn’t seem to have a clue.

Keep It Simple Stupid sticky icon

 Keep It Simple Stupid

As it becomes apparent that there will be no real health care bill you have to wonder what the Power Party will set before us as a pretense of a “win”. Now that the rhetorical drivel has reached epic proportions, a “win” is all that matters. You have to wonder if it was all that ever did matter.

The party in power almost always overreaches because they are more arrogant than astute, more power hungry than principled and have an erroneous concept of their own prescience. Given that Nancy Pelosi had to send her kiddies home for the August Recess armed with “talking points” for dummies, one wonders if any of them have the acumen to find their buttocks with either hand.

Dissenting Americans are Un-American Madam Speaker? sticky icon

Dissenting Americans are Un-American Madam Speaker?

I will confess upfront that I don’t like or respect Nancy Pelosi. I have gone from doing a happy dance all over my living room when she became the first woman speaker to barely being able to tolerate the sight of her. I react the same way to all Obamacrats.

Madam Speaker Pelosi, along with her sidekick Steny Hoyer were foolish enough to put their thoughts on dissent in print in USA Today. They don’t think that we citizens, or mobs depends which side you are on, can or will remember when she thought dissent was fine and dandy, as did the rest of her party.

She was singing a different tune when Bush was in office and the Republicans were the ones with the power. Then it was the evil Bushies trying to stifle honest dissent. And she was correct to abhor the Republican tactics. Evidently she found then useful enough that she now behaves in the same way. If hypocrisy had spots she’d be a polka dot.

Dissent is a part of our heritage. Dissent is in our DNA as Americans. For any member of our government from any party to portray dissent as Un-American is despicable. From the Speaker of the House it is repulsive.

Obama deals and Progressives lament sticky icon

The White House deal with Big Pharma undermines democracy says Robert Reich over at Salon.

He begins to take the Obama White House to task and then immediately begins to back pedal.

“ I'm a strong supporter of universal health insurance, and a fan of the Obama administration. But I'm appalled by the deal the White House has made with the pharmaceutical industry's lobbying arm to buy their support.”

TOWN HALLS AND TOMFOOLERY sticky icon

Let the mudslinging begin! Let the talking points proceed! Let the pundidiots pontificate. And let the politicians that don’t as yet have a bill and probably won’t read it when they do, tell us why it’s a good/bad thing.  And if  we the people  have the temerity to want more details or don't like what we are hearing? Then we are now a mob.

Actually Thomas Jefferson seems to agree:

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.Thomas Jefferson

Dear Congresscritter Asshat and Senator Nincompoop

“Get your hands out of my pocket and step away from my pants.”

Your constant assault on what few dollars I have left is getting tiresome. Your tedious rhetorical insistence that you aren’t doing what we can plainly see you are doing is annoying.

No one can project such wide-eyed innocence as a politician caught with his hand in the cookie jar or in some woman’s bed. That woman not being the one he’s married to. Right up to the moment he confesses his guilt and blubbers about how sorry he is. Sorry he got caught.

Listen my friends and you shall hear of another assault on your patience, your wallet, your health and well-being. You will hear of what that bunch of scuttling cockroaches we elected are about to lay on us nest.

All or Nothing At all sticky icon

Coverage for All or Coverage For None

The rhetorical circus about health care goes on. Ringmaster Obama got into the Center Ring on ABC last night. There they are, the folks at ABC right in the Center Ring with the Ringmaster instead of observing as if they were reporters instead of press agents. They have become part of the entertainment and are no longer members of the audience. Not much new about that but always worth a comment or a complaint.

I admit to being confused about the whole health care debate. That’s understandable since nearly everyone is lying about something. To get at the truth would take an honest media and an involved population. Since many/most of both are too busy shining Obama’s shoes and raising their voices in praise it doesn’t seem likely those of us who actually want to understand have much of a chance to do so.

But if you are persistent and patient, a glimmer of truth shines forth from the Political rhetorical rubbish heap occasionally.

Hypocrisy On Steroids sticky icon

Hypocrisy On Steroids

Politicians can turn on a dime
They do it most all of the time
They loathe this thing now
But tomorrow, oh wow
They’re doing it now and it’s fine.

I don’t mind politicians being liars and hypocrites as much as I mind them thinking that we are too stupid to know that they’re liars and hypocrites.

Women Who Enable sticky icon

Zipping around reading here and there as I do every morning I ran across this from a creature named Tina Brown over at a cesspool called the Daily Beast. She had posted a piece telling Sarah Palin to shut up.

I never thought much about Tina Brown although I've read a few things here and there from her and saw her a time or two on television. Never thought much because I don't think she is much. Her piece of crap acticle telling Sarah Palin to STFU took me from not thinking much about her to loathing her as I would some vile sluggish thing that crawled out form under a rock.

This morning she's put me into such a rage that I can hardly type. And the women, not the men, the women that commented on her article are the most disgusting pieces of trash I have ever read.

Evidently women must STFU when some foul-mouthed old man makes sexual remarks about their teenage daughters. Hey, he apologized, move on and STFU. Except he didn't really apologize. Liar, liar, Tina. But then the enabling kind usually is.

Just look at Hillary says the cretinous Brown, she's working for the man that trashed her and her husband. Now there's an example we can all applaud. That's class ladies and gentlemen.

The Obama Administration and Moutaintop Mining sticky icon

Obama Administration and Mountaintop Mining
I cannot find the words to express my heartbreak that this continues under a “Democratic” administration. I cannot find the words to express my loathing of the lies that this Administration told while seeking office and the reality that we now face.

Candidate Obama was against mountaintop removal in West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky.

That was then…

President Obama, not so much.

On May 15th the Obama EPA cleared 42 MTR permits, saying that blowing up tops of mountains and dumping the debris into nearby rivers and streams would not have an adverse environmental impact.

And this is now…

How Can There Be A Compromise? sticky icon

How Can There Be A Compromise?

If I see black and you see white and we really believe in what we see can we agree to compromise on gray? If the issue being discussed is nothing more important than whether to put onions on a burger or not, perhaps we can compromise. Although I warn you, I take my onions seriously!

If you are adamantly Pro-life and will accept nothing less and I am adamantly Pro-Choice and will accept nothing less than a woman’s right to choose, where is the middle ground? Anyone that believes we can compromise on this issue has serious reality problems. Or they are deliberately obfuscating.

Some things, on both sides of an issue, are not compromiseable. (I know it’s not a word, but when I can’t find one that works for me I make it up. Kinda like what politicians and media do with the truth. At least mine is an innocuous silliness offensive to none but the grammar police.)

Filed Under: Why Should I Care?

Some friends and acquaintances have recently suggested that my nearly permanent state of outrage is because I get all excited over stuff that doesn’t affect me. Why do I get so excited about “Don’t Ask-Don’t Tell” for instance?

I’m not gay and I’m not about to enlist. So why should I care? It’s quite simple, it’s like many other issues that do affect me and affect millions of other people, if I don’t care about them what does that say about me? How I feel about my commitment to fairness and honesty matters to me. Selfish I know, but that’s the way I feel. And I care about how I feel about how I feel.

It’s about being a decent human being and thinking that unless there is freedom and justice for all there is freedom and justice for none. It’s also about refuting the idea that life’s just fine and dandy so long as I get mine, you worry about getting yours. I do not want to be that kind of person.

10 Things I Find Most Annoying About Politicians sticky icon

1.) Top of my list is that they think we’re stupid. They tell us easily disproved lies and expect us to just swallow them. (Top annoyance with fellow citizens is that so many do.)

2.) I don’t like politicians bashing each other. It annoys me and it makes me wonder if this person is worthy of being elected to anything. Don’t tell me what’s wrong with so and so; tell me what’s right with you. Tell me your core beliefs and then point me to where your actions did something to prove that those are your core beliefs.

About the only thing I ever agreed with Ronald Reagan about was his “Trust but verify” remark. Only I believe it should be” verify, then trust”, silly old cynic that I am. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trust,_but_Verify

The Irena Sendler Story sticky icon

The Irena Sendler Story

I don’t know how many of you watched the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie on CBS last night but if you didn’t you missed something. For me it was the first time I had ever heard of her.

From many of the books I had read about that time I was under the impression that nearly all polish people were anti-Semites and that they all simply stood by and let the Nazis exterminate the Jewish People in their country. I’m always glad to find out that people, ordinary everyday people aren’t all as bad as some of them.

Obama’s Secret Plan to Raise Taxes

By Matt Miller

http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-04-06/obamas-bad-debt/

This column is but one of many that highlights what happens when you stop being a reporter and become a fan. This poor guy twists himself so hard trying not to say what he knows to be true that it’s painful to read.

Oh Crap Here We Go Again sticky icon

Oh Crap Here We Go Again

Being retired means that I can zip around the net and peruse things that interest me to my little heart’s content. Sometimes, I find things that interest me that no one else seems to be talking about much. Usually by the time I get around to writing about it someone who writes about much better than I has already done so. And so I just comment or applaud.

When I found the Marie Cocco article about the “Despair of the Afghan Women” a short time ago I was sure that someone, somewhere must be talking about this terrible thing is happening in Afghanistan. But no. At least not yet.

According to Ms. Cocco of the Washington Post:

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has just signed a law that forces women to obey their husbands' sexual demands, keeps women from leaving the house -- even for work or school -- without a husband's permission, automatically grants child custody rights to fathers and grandfathers before mothers, and favors men in inheritance disputes and other legal matters. In short, the law again consigns Afghan women to lives of brutal repression.
