question: is Obama the president for you?
If you don't care about:
- Social Security
- Medicare
- affordable healthcare
- a woman's right to control how her body is used
- mortgage holders who are in default and becoming homeless
ShareThisFDR had Hitler. Obama has Rush Limbaugh?
I wish to be VERY clear about this: I do NOT like Rush Limbaugh and never have since the first time I heard him. I do not listen to Rush and do not plan to.
But the man has a right to say what he wishes to as long as he does not incite riots or revolution or slander anyone, which is not legally the same as insulting or speaking disparagingly about someone.
I think it is unseemly for the president of the United States to set himself up as a co-equal combatant with a radio talk-show personality. And I think it is un-American to use the power of the presidency to try to silence an exponent of a certain point of view the president does not like. http://tinyurl.com/cfgc7q
ShareThisa GIANT leap forward for women and girls would have been . . .
Yes, we have all witnessed the joy Obama's election has brought to African-Americans and black people all over the globe ... and, yes, it was a leap forward.
But I have to wonder WHY some people do not seem to realize what a GIANT leap forward it would have been for women and girls all over the world if we had elected our first female president.
Imagine the joy and uplift it would have given half the world's population -- the women and girls -- if we had demonstrated our respect for women by electing Hillary Clinton, who was and is more qualified by virtue of her experience, skill and integrity than the person who was elected.
Obama's already hired a DOZEN LOBBYISTS
Did I say we need to always look for the small print in everything Obama says and/or signs?
Obama is quite adept at sneaking in qualifiers and back-door exits, so that you might THINK he promised one thing when in fact, he has done quite the opposite.
It's more than wiggle room -- it's basic DISHONESTY.
Misleading with the INTENT to DECEIVE is LYING.
Remember all of Obama's sweet talk about NOT hiring LOBBYISTS in his administration?
Well, Obama's been in office for just a week and he's already hired a DOZEN LOBBYISTS.
When ... oh, when ... will the media wake up to the fact they've been duped?
When ... oh, when ... will the Obamatrons wake up to the fact they've been duped?

Obama's 4 outrages in his 1st week
So. let me get this straight:
In a nation of 300 million people, Obama felt compelled to appoint a tax cheat, Tim Geithner, to be his Treasury Secretary. (Among 300 million people, there was not even ONE other person who could have filled that slot?) Then, tax-cheat Tim Geithner, having declared he would NOT hire any lobbyists, proceeded to hire as his Deputy Treasury Secretary a Goldman-Sachs LOBBYIST, Mark Patterson -- and all of this occurred within the FIRST week of the Obama administration. http://tinyurl.com/cywb84
Second outrage:
ShareThisRead the small print in everything Obama says or signs
We do not honor Dr. Martin Luther King's dream if, to avoid being called "racists," we feel required to refrain from judging Barack Obama the same way we would judge any other president -- on his actions, policies and deeds.
Dr. King urged us NOT to judge a person by the color of his skin but by the content of his character.
That is what I do with regard to Barack Obama.
And that is why I have found him so disappointing in so many ways.
Back in 2004, there was the bright promise of a new star in the Democratic Party, but when Obama hit the tough campaign trail against a better-qualified person, Hillary Clinton, he resorted to the most sickening sort of politics.
ShareThisPssst, Obama ... pay attention
In the years from President Harry Truman till today, the record shows that of all the presidents (from Truman to Bush), President Bill Clinton was the ONLY president to leave office with a HIGHER approval rating than he had when first inaugurated.
Most presidents saw their approval ratings decline between the day they were first inaugurated and the day they left office. (Pssst, Obama ... pay attention.)
Obama's double-talk and double-dealing
The list of pledges Obama dishonestly campaigned on is growing.
ShareThisObama, stomping on our dreams
Instead of moping, we are going to have to be the ones who stay alert, and stay strong, in order to BEAR WITNESS during the Obama years we are now confronted with.
I plan to do my best to bear witness in the years ahead.
I stayed alert and around long enough to bear witness to the Bush presidency -- starting back when pundits were telling us how "authentic" Bush was, how comfortable he was in his own skin, and that his manliness made at least a few of them wilt with love (When Bush wore that parachute outfit to land on the aircraft carrier and announce major conflict was over in Iraq, Chris Matthews could not take his eyes off Bush's crotch ... true, even if nauseating.).
ShareThisObama: "out [of Iraq] by the end of 2009"
One year ago, and just in time to affect Super Tuesday voting on Feb. 5, 2008, Barack Obama said, during the well-televised Democratic debate on Jan. 15, 2008:

Obama, boiled frogs & Bush's 3rd term
Here's how Obama is going to do it.
Incrementally.
First, Obama invites Rick Warren - the anti-gays, anti-abortion, anti-divorce (even if your husband beats you) preacher -- to give the main prayer at the Inauguration.
Only a few pro-choice people complain, and most say, "Well, it's just one appointment."
Then, Obama appoints Gov. Tim Kaine -- who is anti-gays, anti-abortion, and anti embryonic stem cell research -- to be chairman of the Democratic Party.
Now, a few more complain but not enough to rock Obama's coronation.
Then, some of us notice that Obama has put Tom Daschle in charge of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services -- and we discover Daschle has said multiple times that he is ANTI-abortion.
ShareThisIt's Obama versus seniors
Any notion that Barack Obama cares a fig about what happens to older people who are retired (and, probably, no longer able to work) is a forlorn hope.
Obama didn't gave a fig about his white grandmother who loved and raised him; he humiliated her and called her "a typical white woman."
Obama's black grandmother still lives in her mud hut in Kenya.
So, if you are a senior (over 65 years old, that is) or have parents who are seniors, you had better get ready for the worst -- because Obama is promising (or threatening might be a better word for it) to join forces with the Republicans who have been yearning and trying for years to destroy Social Security and Medicare.
ShareThisthat ship has pretty much pulled out of the harbor
Obama said: "In fact, the most direct consequence of releasing them [the torture photos], I believe, would be to further inflame anti-American opinion and to put our troops in greater danger."
Well, I think that ship has pretty much sailed. Every time we bomb another village in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, the images of the dead Muslim women, children and old men do a pretty serious job of turning Muslims against us. How many Muslims has Obama killed in Pakistan with bombing raids he, Obama, has ordered? Is that supposed to make Muslims everywhere love us? When did we declare war on Pakistan, anyway? Why is Obama bombing Pakistan when we are not even at war with Pakistan? And Obama thinks some photos from a past administration will turn Muslims against us? Is Obama bloomin' nuts? Pakistan has the second largest Muslim population in the world after Indonesia.
Trouble with a capital T
I have no idea if this is so; but if it IS true, we are in for some BAD TIMES the likes of which will make The Great Depression look like a dress rehearsal.
While questioning Treasury nominee Tim Geithner at his confirmation hearing this morning [Jan. 21, 2009], Sen. Chuck Schumer said he spent some time calling around Wall Street this weekend, and what he heard was that if the government wants to clean out all the toxic assets from the financial system, it will cost some three to four trillion dollars.

Today . . . absolutely
Do I think it is wonderful that American has inaugurated a black president?
Absolutely.
Do I like Barack Obama?
I neither like nor dislike Barack Obama; I don't know him personally.
Do I like the way Obama "won" the presidency?
Absolutely not.
Do I like the tactics Obama and his enablers in the DNC leadership used to cheat Hillary Clinton out of her rightful win of the Democratic nomination?
You better believe I do not.
Do I trust Barack Obama to keep his word or honor his campaign pledges whenever there is a difficult policy issue at stake?
No.
Do I think Obama is up to the job of repairing this nation's economy?
No, but I hope I'm wrong about that -- for all our sakes.
Obama is the un-FDR
Do I think things will get better after Jan. 20th, when Obama is sworn in?
No.
The guy doesn't have a clue.
Obama is the un-Roosevelt.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who inherited a far worse mess than Obama is inheriting, told us NOT to be fearful ... that fear could eat away at us and destroy us.
But FDR went a step further ... a giant step further ... he gave us the CONFIDENCE that HE had the confidence to start immediately making things better.
FDR immediately closed the rest of the banks -- the few that hadn't already closed all across America -- and then put protections in place making it safe to open the banks again and guaranteed folks their money was safe in America's banks.
And please do NOT listen to any of that baloney that the Depression didn't end until WWII ... The Great Depression started to end the day FDR was inaugurated.
ShareThisDoes Obama think he's going to be emperor?
In times of great crisis, the American people look to their president for reassurance, not fear-mongering.
We want to know our president will solve our problems, not just describe them to us.
So, why is soon-to-be-president Barack Obama telling us all his dark predictions of how bad the next few years will be? Does Obama not understand we don't need more warnings of economic collapse and rising unemployment? Most of us are already worried and some of us are terrified.
Does the crafty Obama want to scare us so much that any indication things are not as dire as he now says they are will cause us to think he has already solved our problems just by showing up?
ShareThisLaura Bush a great First Lady? No
As George W. Bush's presidency draws to its welcome close, I hope we can be spared gushing pronouncements from people telling us what a great First Lady Laura Bush has been. She hasn't.
And I hope people won't waste their tine telling us that since being a First Lady is NOT a "job," we shouldn't expect much from Laura or, arguably, any First Lady.
First Ladies have enormous staffs ready and eager to do anything and everything to make life pleasant for our First Ladies. The wives of American presidents get to fly anywhere, anytime, on a luxury airliner that will take them wherever they want to go, at any time of day or night. First Ladies don't even have to drive through traffic to get to the airport; the helicopter picks them up right from the back door of the White House.
ShareThisCan't wait to see who Obama appoints to the U.S. Supreme Court
So, am I getting this right?
Obama has asked Rick Warren to give the Invocation at the Inauguration, but Rick Warren is anti-gays (says they are the same as pedophiles), anti a woman's right to control her own body, and believes physical abuse of wives (no matter how violent) is NOT grounds for divorce.
Obama has asked Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine to head up the Democratic National Committee (formerly headed by Howard Dean, who may have let us down but at least is not against all the things Kaine is against). Kaine is against gay marriage and/or civil unions, against abortion, and against embryonic stem cell research, etc.
So, tell me again: what it was that made liberals vote for Obama?
At this rate, I can't wait to see who Obama appoints to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Maybe the Rev. Jeremiah "God Damn America" Wright.
Yup, excellent choice.
